Food

This page will explain some different foods from El salvador and the tribes that were home to el salvador before the El salvador people moved in

In El Salvador, there is a lot of really tasty food that people love to eat. One of the most interesting things about this food is the history behind it. A long time ago, over 2000 years ago, a group of people called the Pipil created a food that many Salvadorans know today. This food is called the pupusa. The pupusa is a popular dish in El Salvador. It is made from a flatbread that looks like a tortilla. This flatbread can be made from corn flour or rice flour. They are usually filled with stuff like cheese, chicharrón (which is fried pork), refried beans, or a flower called loroco. People in El Salvador enjoy eating pupusas at any time of the day. They are often served with a side of pickled cabbage and tomato sauce, which adds even more flavor. Pupusas are not just food. They are a part of the culture and history of El Salvador, and many families have their own special recipes for making them.
